As the Wolves (1-3-2) Saverio Romano starts to find his form the Mustangs (1-3-2) take the brunt of his efforts and drop to the bottom of leaderboard.
Period one saw five minutes of both sides exchanging chances with the “Crackerjacks of the Curly Cubicles” standing strong and fending off all attempts. At the ten minute mark, the Wolves Saverio Romano (unassisted) unleashed a laser from the top of the slot and the pack was on the board at 1-0. Just prior to the one minute mark (1:20) the Mustangs Roberto Monteiro (unassisted) brought the ponies even and the buzzer rang with the score tied 1-1.
The second frame proved to be as even as the first with a marker each from both sides. At 12:45 the Wolves Saverio Romano took a nice feed from Mitchell Stark and slid one by Mustangs keeper Brad Gordon. At 5:10 another solo effort by Mustangs Roberto Monteiro brought it back to a draw at 2-2.
It was period three of this game that was going to have to settle the score. At 13:00 the Mustangs Sergio Correia (unassisted) scored his first goal of the year and the Mustangs took the lead (3-2) for the first time in the game. It was then that the Wolves Saverio Romano showed us why he’s been the league’s top scorer since his rookie season. Romano blasted four unanswered markers at 10:00 / 6:10 / 3:20 / 1:30 all unassisted and the Mustangs had to settle for their fourth loss of the season. Wolves win 6-3.
