We recently held an Accessibility Idea-thon back in May with several great ideas on improving accessibility. In order for the ideas to flourish requires competitions such as this innovation challenge hosted by TOM (Tikkun Olam Makers).

TOM is calling Makers and Need Knowers worldwide to work together to develop technological solutions for unaddressed challenges facing people with disabilities.

Maker: A person who loves creating things in their spare time with their bare hands. Generally enjoys engineering, design, electronics, robotics, 3D printing and traditional manufacturing like metalwork or woodwork.

Need Knowers: A person who brings personal expertise to the Making experience with a deep understanding of a disability. Either they themselves have a disability, is a caregiver for someone with a disability, or is a professional in the sector.

For more details visit TOM Global, the deadline for entering is August 1, 2016, 12 noon EST.

I am passionate about people and focused on developing meaningful opportunities for people with accessibility needs through social entrepreneurial initiatives in journalism, consulting, and arts. As a TED talks junkie, I would love to hear your story and ideas. Reach out and connect with me!
