Torrance and I have been Blue Jays fans since we were little. We have supported them through the good times, and the not so good times. Our support has NEVER waivered.
From the very beginning, Rogers Centre (formerly known as SkyDome) has always had wheelchair accessible seating. The vantage point from those seats has always been good. The barriers to prevent people from falling have improved greatly. Initially there was just a wire and people would shake it and it would impede our view. Recently the sections 111-109 and 131-134 has changed to a gated fence. This was better because people could not move it, however you had to look through the slats to see everything. The best barriers are just glass partitions that come up far enough to prevent accidents in sections 116 to 127. People in the accessible sections with these barriers can see perfectly.
From the time we got to Gate 7, all of the staff and security were very helpful. They did everything possible to make sure we were comfortable and kept asking us if we needed anything. They were very attentive to our needs. This includes after the game. The security waited with us and made sure we got on our bus safely.
This year, after a LONG playoff drought, the Blue Jays finally made it. We sat in Sections 130 and 131 and the view of the field was pretty good with no obstructions to our view when fans in level 100 stood up. The atmosphere was electric. Everyone was very excited and showed their love for the Blue Jays from the very first pitch of the game. Everyone was very inclusive and cheered along with us and even gave us high fives.
The only thing is we wish there was, was a way we could go down to field level to get autographs from the players or celebrate with them like we saw in Game #5.
As exciting as it has been so far, we want this momentum to keep going. Even if they do not win it all, we are still very proud of all they accomplished. We cannot wait to go back next year and experience the excitement all over again!
