Mustangs hangs on for a big 4 – 3 win over the Kings.
In the first period, the Mustangs got off to a hot start scoring three goals for the 3 – 0 lead. Roberto Monteiro and Mike Iacovone both contributed with a goal and an assist, and Nicole Neeson added a goal.
In the second period, the Mustangs continued their offense at 28 seconds extending the lead to 4 – 0 on a tip in goal from Brandon Hibbs his first of the season, assisted by Roberto Monteiro and Mike Iacovone. The Kings would finally get on the board at 2:55 on a goal from Sharmin Alam, and added another from Isaac assisted by Sharmin to cut the lead in half.
In the third period, the Kings continued chipping away at the Mustangs lead scoring at 2:35 to make it 4 – 3 on Sharmin Alam’s 2nd goal of the game, making for an exciting finish. The Kings were looking for the equalizing goal with tons of close calls, but were unable to get by goalie Brad Gordon and the Mustangs. With the Mustangs win both teams are now tied with eight points and are six points behind for the final playoff spot, but still have a chance with seven games remaining.
