Lake Raiders even series against Saints

TPWHL Saints vs Lake Raiders

In game two of the 2015 TPWHL semifinals between the Saints and Lake Raiders, The Lake Raiders were looking to avoid elimination after giving up a late goal that ultimately cost them the first game of this best of three series.

The action started early in the first with the Lake Raiders Jeremy Schofield (unassisted) scored on a rising shot at 0:53, followed shortly by an identical goal assisted by Erin Vasilakos at 1:25 taking a 2-0 lead. The 6:00 minute mark saw the Lake Raiders kill off a 2 minute Erin Vasilakos ramming minor, however, they were unsuccessful on the next boarding call at 10:40, in which the Saints Don Deschaps (Brandy Edwards) snapped in, getting the Saints on the board at 11:10 closing out the first period scoring.

The second frame started with the Saints a man short on a Braden Martz charging call, putting the Lake Raiders on a power play that was ineffective against the Saints PK. The tight play continued until 10:15 when the Lake Raiders Jeremy Schofield got called on a ramming infraction, giving the Saints the man advantage where Brandy Edwards (unassisted) tied things up at 11:00. Just under three minutes later while once again on the penalty kill, the Lake Raiders Jeremy Schofield broke the tie on a solo effort scoring a short-handed goal at 13:54, taking a 3-2 lead into the third.

The final period saw the intensity increase as both teams battled for ball possession but it was the Lake Raiders who would build on they’re lead off an Erin Vasilakos (Sean Celsie) line drive beating a screened Tracy Taylor at 6:02. then with 19 seconds left the Saints kept coming as Brandy Edwards (Don Deschaps) tallied on the wrap around, making things interesting however the Lake Raiders where able to hang on for the victory, tying the series and setting the stage for a thrilling, winner takes all game three.
