Innovative Residential Opportunity for Adults with Developmental Disabilities

This is Rebecca's brother chilling on the New York City R train during a trip to NYC in September

Our family had set up this innovative residential opportunity for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities in Toronto, Ontario for over 10 years. This cooperative living environment for three people, including my brother, requires some support and has a person on site who acts as a mentor, friend and house manager.

The home is located near the Eglinton West subway station and currently, have openings for one or two people between approximately 21 and 45 years old. Our model is a participatory one based on family involvement, long-term supported independent living for our adult family member that provides security, permanence and quality of life. Each family works with their own lead agency to follow up on daytime activities and everyone returns home on weekends.

We have worked hard to create this and are now looking for the right match to round out this unique home. We are looking for compatible roommates for my brother as well as compatible families to ensure they have the best living situation possible.

If you are or know of a family who may be interested in talking to us and finding out more, please forward this and/or feel free to contact me on here if you would like more information or contact my mom who is the main contact directly at

Don’t hesitate to ask questions! Thanks.
