Breathing properly is an essential part to working-out. It may be hard for you to remember when focusing on other body movement (I know I forget to sometimes) but practice and doing chair yoga has helped.
Here are a few ‘Breathing Techniques’:
‘These are done all through nose, adds resistance to breath’
Sama Vritti/Equal Breathing- Inhale for 4counts, Exhale for 4 counts.
Nadi Shodhana/Alternate Nostril Breathing- Hold the right thumb over the right nostril and inhale deeply through the left nostril. At the peak of inhalation, close off the left nostril with the ring finger, then exhale through the right nostril.
Progressive Relaxation- Close the eyes and focus on tensing and relaxing each muscle group for two to three seconds each. Start with the feet and toes, then move up to the knees, thighs, rear, chest, arms, hands, neck, jaw and eyes — all while maintaining deep, slow breaths.
