Bulldogs & Kings battle to a 1-1 draw

TPWHL Kings vs Bulldogs

bIn their second match up of the season, the (2-2-1) Bulldogs took on the mighty (2-2-1) Kings.

This low scoring affair was not lacking in action. Both sides exchanged back & forth scoring opportunities but no one could find the back of the net. At 6:11 of the first, Bulldogs Rookie, Franco Paonessa drew an “in the crease” infraction and put the Kings on the Powerplay. The Bulldogs defensive core stood tall and the Kings were not able to take advantage of the extra man. As the first frame started to wind down, Franco Paonessa (unassisted) at 12:11 picked up a Kings turnover and put a top corner rocket passed Kings Keeper Leo Xu. The Bulldogs took the 1-0 advantage to the end of the first.

The second period was a scoreless frame with both sides exchanging quality offensive opportunities and strong defensive responses.

Period three continued as period two concluded with end to end action but the “Keepers of the Cabled Cabanas” (Bulldogs Mohit Sharma & Kings Leo Xu) stood tall and kept things scoreless through the first half of the period. At 9:20 of the third a lone effort by Kings, David Donnelly, drew the Kings even with the Bulldogs at 1-1. Neither side could find the net for the remainder and both sides had to settle for the single point.

The Bulldogs take on Brandy Edwards and the Saints while the Kings go up against and the Lake Raiders and Jeremy Schofield this week at Sunnyview Public School. Come watch the TPWHL next Saturday from 12:30 to 3:30 PM.
